When luxury electric hybrid auto manufacturer Karma Automotive decided to locate a new site for its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant, executives knew there was only one choice: the City of Moreno Valley, California. Supported by Moreno Valley’s second-to-none pro-business environment, skilled and motivated workforce, strategic location and affordable lease rates, the US automaker shipped the first units of its $130,000 luxury vehicle, Karma Revero, in 2017.
Now, not only has Karma Automotive undergone a warehouse expansion, the company also invested more than $100,000 million into their facility, renaming it the Karma Innovation and Customization Center (KICC). The facility will house production of the company’s new 2020 Revero luxury electric vehicle and will provide the ultimate in customization, craftsmanship and technology integration. Comprised of a Body Shop, General Assembly, Paint Shop, Final Process Alignment and Dynamic Test Stations, the 556,000 square foot industrial space contains the latest in automotive technology and tooling.
Karma’s workforce undergoes personalized, small-session craftsmanship training to ensure they have the skills necessary to produce the Revero. Thanks to business relocation incentives offered by the City of Moreno Valley, Karma Automotive utilized the City’s Employment Resource Center to recruit and train a specialized, dedicated workforce. The Employment Resource Center operates a one-stop job resource center that provides workforce development, recruitment, and job fair support to connect Moreno Valley businesses with the right employees at no cost.
KICC currently produces the company’s 2019 Revero and is transitioning to produce its next-generation 2020 Revero during the second half of this year.
Karma’s investment in its Moreno Valley location emphasizes its commitment to remain and do business in Southern California for years to come. Karma chose to start selling cars in the U.S. first, with a special focus on California, because this is the most competitive and demanding luxury market in the world.
Karma Automotive designs, engineers, and markets luxury electric vehicles from its Southern California base of operations. The Revero, powered by dual electric motors, is individually created at the Karma Innovation and Customization Center in Moreno Valley.
