MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (April 1, 2020) — Whether we choose to do it on Takeout Tuesday or a day without a clever nickname, every dollar residents spend ordering out from MoVal restaurants helps support a business sector that, when healthy, employs as many as 5,000 Moreno Valley residents.
“Food-preparation and -service businesses can make a comeback once we’re past this crisis if they can just hang on long enough,” said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. “We want every one of those jobs and businesses back at some point, and ordering out at least once per week can help make that happen.”
In order to maintain a safe distance from customers, some normally sit-down restaurants are now offering a curbside pick-up option in addition to in-store pick-up and deliveries. In addition to further reducing the spread of coronavirus, the curbside and delivery options offer another benefit. They allow restaurants to keep more employees working without violating the ban on gatherings of more than 10 people total, workers and customers.
A list of MoVal restaurants offering curbside pick-up, takeout or delivery options is available on the City’s website as part of a new Food Resources page at www.moval.org/food and will be updated weekly.
